Thine Fine Wine

The streets in Artisan Section of Vale City were never short of people and activities. Taverns and inns for weary souls and bodies scattered throughout this area, becoming the 'centers' of this never-sleeping part of Vale.

At one of the street junction, there was a large building with people crowded inside. A simple sign with "Thine Fine Wine" written on it was hanged near the entrance. For the keen eyes, the attempts to hide some marks on the sign indicated some recent alteration on the sign post.

You were then welcomed by a hall packed with tables, food, people and peculiar music tunes as you entered the building. There were few waiters and waitresses, but all busy with serving the patrons. While you also noticed the music is coming from a bard who playing his mandolin in the corner. The only free hands you saw was a blond woman behind the counter. She seemed already observing for you a while.

For some reason, you felt being drawn towards that woman...

"Welcome~! What can I help you~? If you're starving, I'd recommend our specialty pies~! Goes along very well with ale and wine~! Or---if you're interested with something else...don't worry~! As long as you have some coins to share, you'll get what you want here~"

The bandits who lurked around the Emerald Forest in Remnants of Sanus were said to be ruthless and unforgiving. The Knights of Orleans, along with the Forest Rangers, worked together for years to suppress the bandits' activities and influences around Town of Orleans and trade routes which connected three major settlements in Remnants of Sanus.

However, some recent Horror-related disasters left both the knight order and the ranger corps in disarray and worsened conditions. In response to this situation, Lord Kopfdrachen through the Council of Round Tables decided to put bounties and rewards for mercenaries and adventurers who are capable enough to help in handling the bandits threats in Emerald Forest.

Duration: 1 Week per attempt
Participants: Solo (1 PC) or Party (2 PCs or more)

You spent a week to track down the bandits and locate their hideout. Should you fortunate enough to find one, you can either focusing on gathering information about the bandits, or to wreak some havoc in their ranks. Either way, you would want to perform your deeds well, to avoid unwanted incidents...

On a side note, she is also ready to make a sacrifice, for letting you to escape from the bandits' clutches should things went south.

Walder's right hand in the Forest Rangers corps, while also one of the Huntress from the Huntsmen of Remnants.

She may looks like a child, and sometimes acts like a klutz one. However, she is more than capable to help with both menial tasks and those which requires more finesse. She is also quite confident with her senses and tracking skills.

Nonetheless, with all of these skill sets, she won't help you just because you ask. She will only lend you a hand if you share her some coins. Got to make some living.

Or you can just bribe her with cookies. Like, a really lot of cookies.

They eagerly tormented you both physically and mentally, while stripped your possessions. Miraculously, you awake in Orleans, but you can't even remember how you could escape from that hell...

6-25: You have quite a tough luck. The bandits who captured you called themselves [Alba Canini]. They tormented you both physically and mentally. You can recall some people saved you from the bandits, but your memory is too hazy to remember who they were...

26-80: You were captured by some bandits, but fortunately they were too focused on your belongings. You can escape before they could harm you further, albeit some of your possession were too far from your reach by the time you escaped...

81-95: You fell unconscious when the bandits captured you. However, you awake later in the middle of Emeralf Forest, though you couldn't find some of your belongings.

96-100: You fell unconscious when the bandits captured you. However, you awake later in the middle of Emerald Forest, with treated wounds and your whole belongings intact. Such luck.

The bandits in Remnants of Sanus were quite known as ruthless and unforgiving. Countless atrocities and crimes were already gathered under their collective belts. It's rather a common consensus for people of Remnants to think that those bandits were already went far beyond redemption.

However, some minority sides voiced otherwise. There were still few people who believed that at least the bandits who chose to surrender should be given a second chance. Unfortunately, most people of Remnants were already too bitter with those criminals. They were either demanded death penalty to the captured bandits, or chose to not care at all with them.

Despite of the inevitable hardships and harsh criticism she gained since the announcement of this "atrocious" and "meaningless" plan, Joan Arc bravely faces the anger of mobs who once were stood behind her back before she made this drastic decision. However, apparently she was short of hands, as there were too little of townsfolk who volunteered to help with her plan.

With the permission from Lord Kopfdrachen, words about the plan to redeem the captured bandits were spread, and it seemed there will be some compensation prepared for anyone who were willing to come to Orleans and lend their hands upon this matter.

Whether there would be actually some truth within this effort, or it would ended up as a delusional hope, only time will tell...

The initiator of this "rehabilitation plan" for the captured bandits. As a way to show her responsibility, she will always ready to help you for performing your plans. However, she was actually in a rather tight spot as she lost most of supports from Orleans townsfolk, and her status as member of Knights of Orleans made the bandits rather wary around her.

Also, if you messed up when she was helping you around, she might became a victim to the prisoners' harassment or caught up between the conflicts between townsfolk and the prisoners, which will add more fuel to the fire.

The White Fangs

The bandits who claimed to rule over the Emerald Forest had finally shown themselves. Turned out, the group who called themselves [Alba Canini] were far more ruthless and more organized than the ones usually came out before. Added by rumors and claims that they also had Horrors on their side, making the authorities in Orleans taking their steps carefully. Especially since their precise guerrilla tactics almost taken out some of the already few important figures from the Knights of Orleans, as well as slowly eroding the Forest Rangers who hadn't had any chance yet to recover.

Fortunately, the information gathered by the help from adventurers around Orleans supported the local authorities to face this "new" adversaries. Nonetheless, it did not change the possibility that the bandits might already learned everything they needed to counter everything that the Knights and Rangers could came up with, thanks to their constant clashes during last few years. Thus, the Council of Round Tables decided the Knights and Rangers would need element of surprises to stand a chance against these bandits.

Therefore, with the authority given by Lord Kopfdrachen, the Council of Round Table once again invites brave and capable adventurers to aid them in their bloody skirmishes against the bandits known as [Alba Canini] in exchange for handsome rewards as compensation.

A member of Knights of Orleans. Although she doesn't hold any official commanding or superior position in Knights of Orleans, it seemed like she held some kind of influence within the order itself. Some even speculate that she had a special position assigned by Lord Kopfdrachen himself. It was said she is quite skilled in raising soldiers' morale and persuading hostiles to help her cause. Her hobbies in embroidery and walking around the town also helpful in making signal banners and giving some insights on terrains around Town of Orleans.

Unfortunately, despite being blessed with such talents, she is seldom sent to the frontline, making the lack of field experience became her most fatal flaws.

1 Success. Most of the plans were botched. While you actually managed to create some dent to the bandit group, they did worse to you. Nonetheless, perhaps that was what alleviated your exhaustion for a bit. But the mental exhaustion still pushed you to the edge of your wits. You end the Downtime with Wounded Condition, Traumatized, and 2 Level of Exhaustion for your entire party.

2 Successes. The plans didn't go as they should. Too many mistakes were made. The attack did yield some result, but at a great cost. You knew that going further will be a suicide, thus you retreated in a really bad shape. You end the Downtime with Wounded Condition and 2 Level of Exhaustion for your entire party.

3 Successes. There were flaws in the plan execution. However, you managed to break through into this hideout. You obviously didn't look in a good shape, but you can still push on to see this through the end. You ended the Skill Challenge step with Wounded Condition and 1 Level of Exhaustion for your entire party. The entire party also lost half of their maximum hp, class features usage, and spell slots (round down). You may proceed to Step 4.

4 Successes. Things went to your favor, but their resistance were fiercer than you anticipated. You drained more stamina than you should, but everything was still under control. You ended the Skill Challenge step with 1 Level of Exhaustion for your entire party. You may proceed to Step 4.

5 Successes. The strike plans were executed flawlessly. Now all that left is to give a proper closing and show those bandits whom they were facing. You ended the Skill Challenge step without any setback. You may proceed to Step 4.

4. You may:
a. Stop the downtime and take your rewards.
b. Proceed to Step 5. Taking this step will turn the downtime into PBP/Hybrid Session.

5. You will enter an encounter against Horrors in 5 vs 1-3 fashion. If your Helpers exceeded the numbers of maximum party members, you must choose who will participate in the encounter.

The field commander in Knights of Orleans. Most of her peers noted Caelainn as quite balanced fighters in physical and mental aspects. However, they also lamented her tendency to miss out subtle changes and details on the field, which sometimes let her and her team into troubles, should no one held her reins.

Her weapon of choices are a longsword and a shield. However, her comrades noted her fighting style as far from being defensive. It was said her signature maneuvers and aggresive approach in a fight allow her to control the enemies and the battlefield, while preventing the adversaries to land solid blows at her side.

Caelainn's deputy in Knights of Orleans. As the foil to Caelainn, she could do what her commander could not. Unfortunately, the same things also happened otherwise. Her comrades noted Micaiah's lack of initiative and unwillingness to think about complex matters as her biggest issues. However, they also acknowledged her insights and unyielding spirits in the face of a great adversity which most of time could compensate her weaknesses.

Equipped with heavy armor and a greatsword, Micaiah was rather known to storm towards enemies in the very first chance she had. Her peers stated that her forms might looked sloppy sometimes, but most enemies wouldn't survive her blade once it could connect to the target.

{3. Joan Arc, Knights of Orleans/Order of Golden Dawn}

A member of Knights of Orleans. Joan usually known to handle the rear line, from tending the wounded knights and soldiers who just returned from the front lines, to taking care the prisoners if there was any. She is also known as the initiator of "prisoners rehabilitation plan", which still caused mixed reactions from the townsfolk, even nowadays.

Recently, some people noticed some changes in Joan's behavior; it's as if she had resolved herself to actively participate in the front line whenever the opportunity presented itself. Nonetheless, people around her still sees her as committed in handling the rear line, like she always does.

Joan's capabilities in battlefield was rather unknown to most people. But a handful people who had fought with her noted that she could handle herself quite well in a battle. They also stated to often feel motivated and invigorated by her inspiring words on difficult situations.

{4. Ruby Rose, Forest Rangers/Huntsmen of Remnants}

With Walder's return, Ruby returns to her position as "co-leader" for the younger Forest Rangers corps. She still looks like a child, and sometimes still acts like a klutz one. Despite of this, the people around her seems acknowledged her capabilities to traverse in the wilderness. Despite of her extremely short stature for an Angevin, the Forest Rangers stated that Ruby could wield her great scythe/heavy crossbow with ease, and rather good at them as well.

However, just like everyone else, she also had some glaring weaknesses. The more veteran Forest Rangers claimed that her body is somehow a bit fragile for a Forest Ranger. Also, sometimes her trains of thought might be either too simplistic and straightforward, or too wild and impossible to be actually executed.

{5. Yelena "Yang" Ange, Huntsmen of Remnants}

Sister of Ruby Rose. She is rather unknown in Orleans, but townsfolk stated she became frequently seen around the town since the latest events involving bandits and purplish fog in Emerald Forest.

Most people said Ruby's description about her sister was rather unreliable, due to the former's tendency to exaggerate things (thanks to Walder's influence). However, she highly emphasized on "don't ever made her angry" (which followed by a pun that people decided to forget immediately).

Regardless, some townsfolk stated that Yang showed some remarkable physical prowess during her stay in orleans, and usually able to chug a lot of alcohol before she fell to deep stupor.

Forest Ranger Walder has returned! With his return, the morale of Forest Rangers and Knights of Orleans has boosted hundred times folds! He's the man for the job! Walder the Forest Ranger can't even SPELL the word "impossible"! See the invisible! Touch the untouchable! Break the unbreakable! With Walder around, the bandits won't stand a chance!

Despite of his antics, Walder was known around the Town of Orleans as a capable Ranger. His usual loud and cheerful attitude could vanished in a sudden whenever the task was up. However, he was also not immune with weaknesses. His most glaring weaknesses would be his rather lack capability to read atmosphere and subtle signal, making it another test of patience whenever one was speaking with him.

The Earl of Orleans and leader of Knights of Orleans. He is the one who gave the authority and permission for the knight order to use assistance from the adventurers that came from outside Orleans. Despite of his rather young age for a Lord, his knights and subjects are (seemingly) loyally following him.

While Lord Kopfdrachen was the one who initiated the skirmishes plan against Alba Canini, he preferred to make sure the skirmish plans were well-prepared before he launches the attack. Once he deemed the preparations stage were already enough, he will offer the help by personally leading his knights to provide assistance and distractions needed for the main strike team to execute their own plan.
